Paying for Doula Care

Insurance & Private Pay

Doula care should be accessible without making payment feel complicated. Starlight Birth Services works with Oregon Health Plan and select commercial insurance plans, and private-pay options are also available.

Oregon Health Plan (OHP)
Doula services may be covered for eligible OHP members, including prenatal visits, labor and birth support, and postpartum visits. Additional visits may also be available when appropriate.

Commercial Insurance
Some commercial health plans include doula or perinatal support benefits. Coverage varies by plan, and benefits will be verified before services begin whenever possible.

Private Pay
Families who are uninsured, whose plan does not include doula coverage, or who simply prefer to pay privately are welcome to book services directly.

Insurance coverage and benefits vary by individual plan. Verification of benefits is not a guarantee of payment. Any expected client responsibility will be discussed before services begin.

Doula Services FAQ

Choosing a doula is personal, and it’s normal to have questions about what support looks like, when to reach out, how doulas work alongside your care team, and how services are paid for. Here are answers to some common questions about Starlight doula support.
